Thrustmaster Ferrari 488 GT3: Choose Your Wheel Skin
The Thrustmaster Ferrari 488 GT3 has a face worth making your own: broad black surfaces, coloured controls and just enough space for a race livery to change its character. The useful question is how to choose a skin that works with that layout—and what needs to come off before you fit it.
The key preparation point: the plastic knobs need to be removed for the LS skin, but the wheel housing does not need to be taken apart. Keeping or removing the original stickers is a separate choice. Here is how to choose a design and prepare without making that decision too late.

Meet the Ferrari 488 GT3 Wheel Add-On
Thrustmaster’s officially licensed Ferrari replica is 31 cm across, with carbon-fibre cladding on the central faceplate. Its controls include 11 action buttons, a directional pad, two rotary encoders and two thumb encoders. Four LEDs provide information through GT and single-seater modes, while the magnetic shift paddles offer four positioning configurations.

The open top and compact LED area leave the graphics around the controls particularly visible. Look at a skin as part of that whole face: the large colour blocks, the smaller labels and the contrast around each dial all contribute to the finished appearance.
Two Ferrari looks, two very different results
Red and white: make the livery the main feature
The 2026 Scuderia Ferrari F1 livery for the Thrustmaster 488 GT3 combines a red lower face with a broad white upper section. In the catalogue rendering, that white band frames the upper controls while the red areas extend towards the grips. It is a good option if you want the wheel to become a visible part of a Ferrari-themed cockpit.

Printed carbon: keep more of the dark GT look
The Modern Ferrari printed-carbon livery keeps most of the face dark, with red and white accents around the edges and controls. The carbon pattern is printed on white vinyl and has no carbon texture; it is a graphic effect, not a replacement carbon-fibre panel.

Notice the distinction between the artwork and the hardware name: a number or car reference within a design describes its visual theme. The product’s fitment description determines which wheel the cut shape fits. Both designs above are listed for the Thrustmaster TM Ferrari 488 GT3 Wheel Add-On.
You can also take the look in another direction. The 488 GT3 skin collection includes other racing themes, including a Grello Porsche-inspired design made for this same wheel.
Read the flat artwork before you peel the backing
A rendering helps you choose the overall look. The flat artwork is more useful for examining the openings, edges and printed labels. Compare it with your wheel before applying anything: locate the central knobs, the upper LED area and the smaller control openings, then check which way the design sits.

If you use a custom button mapping, pay particular attention to the labels you rely on during a race. The printed artwork does not change the function assigned in your simulator. A favourite livery is worth comparing with your own control scheme before you order.
Original stickers: keep them, or remove them?
The LS product instructions allow either approach: apply the new skin over the original stickers, or remove the originals first. Removing the original stickers ruins them; they cannot be reused. If preserving them matters to you, do not peel them off as an automatic preparation step.
This decision is separate from removing the plastic knobs. The knobs need to come off to fit the skin around their positions. LS specifies that you do not need to dismantle the wheel housing. Read the instructions on your chosen product before starting, and contact us if you are unsure which parts the instructions refer to.
A focused preparation checklist for this wheel
- Confirm the exact wheel. Choose the 488 GT3 Wheel Add-On template. A Ferrari name alone is not enough to identify the shape.
- Decide what to do with the original stickers. Make that choice before cleaning and positioning the new artwork.
- Prepare the knobs as instructed. Follow the LS product guidance for the removable plastic knobs, without opening the housing.
- Start with a clean, dry face. Check the orientation while the backing is still on, so you understand how the openings line up before exposing the adhesive.
- Keep your reference points in view. Work carefully around the control openings and check the final fit before returning to your normal driving setup.
Using the wheel with T598 or T818? Check the wheel firmware
The wheel includes screw-type and latch-type quick-release holders. Your wheelbase and platform still matter when choosing a hardware setup; use the compatibility information on the official wheel page for your combination.
As checked on 5 October 2026, Thrustmaster’s T598 support page calls for Ferrari 488 GT3 wheel firmware V2.06 for proper operation with T598 and T818. That is the wheel firmware, not the base firmware. Thrustmaster provides a separate wheel firmware update procedure using My Thrustmaster Panel on Windows 10 or later; the update cannot be performed from a console.
