Fanatec Formula V3: What Changed and How to Make It Yours
The Fanatec Formula V3 brings a wider shape, a larger display and revised controls to Fanatec’s familiar Formula steering wheel. If you are choosing one for your cockpit, there are two separate things to check: whether it works with your hardware, and whether any accessories you buy are made for this exact model.
This guide covers the main changes from the Formula V2.5, platform compatibility and how to personalise the V3 with a correctly matched Lovely Stickers kit.

What is the Fanatec Formula V3?
Launched on 28 April 2026, the ClubSport Formula V3 is an evolution of the Formula V2.5. It is a steering wheel rim for a compatible Fanatec wheel base, rather than a complete simulator package. Its Formula-style shape can also suit GT and prototype racing; the best shape for you depends on the cars you drive and your preferences.
The V3 measures 290 mm across and has a 2.7-inch white OLED display, a 5 mm carbon-fibre front plate and replaceable perforated-leather grips. Magnetic shift paddles and a QR2 Wheel-Side quick release are included. The display is monochrome, even though the separate rev and flag LEDs are RGB.

Formula V3 vs V2.5: what changed?
| Feature | Formula V2.5 | Formula V3 |
|---|---|---|
| Width | 270 mm | 290 mm |
| White OLED display | 1 inch | 2.7 inches |
| Directional controls | One FunkySwitch and one analogue joystick | Two 7-way FunkySwitches |
| Central selector | 4-position selector for the Advanced Paddle Module | 12-position rotary switch; paddle-module settings move to the Tuning Menu |
| Thumb rotaries | Rotary input | Revised resistance and detents, plus push input |
| Grips | Perforated leather | User-replaceable perforated leather |
Both models use magnetic shift paddles and can accept the optional Podium Advanced Paddle Module. Fanatec details these changes in its official V3 and V2.5 comparison.
For an existing V2.5 owner, the useful question is whether you want more room around the controls, a bigger display or different inputs. A new wheel is a hardware decision; a new livery is an appearance decision. If you already like the way your current wheel works, identify its model carefully before buying a skin.
Does the Formula V3 work on PC, PlayStation or Xbox?
- Windows PC: yes, with a compatible Fanatec wheel base and supported games.
- PlayStation: only when connected to a compatible, PlayStation-licensed Fanatec base. The wheel alone does not add PlayStation support to a PC-only base.
- Xbox: the Formula V3 is not compatible. Do not confuse it with the Xbox-licensed Formula V2.5 X.
The V3 comes with QR2 already fitted. Check both your exact wheel-base model and its base-side quick release before ordering. For example, Fanatec lists the CSL DD, Gran Turismo DD Pro, ClubSport DD and ClubSport DD+ among the compatible bases; that does not mean every older Fanatec base is supported.
Some display and control functions depend on game support. Check the official Formula V3 compatibility guide for the full list, and the V3 manual for setup and software requirements.

Why the exact wheel model matters for stickers
A Formula V3 skin needs to match the V3’s front face: the outer shape, larger screen and positions of the controls. A design intended for a V2 or V2.5 should not be treated as a V3 fit simply because both wheels belong to the Formula family.

Before choosing a livery, make these three checks:
- Confirm the model name. Use your order details or the manufacturer’s model information. “Fanatec Formula” on its own is not specific enough.
- Check the product description. It should explicitly name the Formula V3 as the compatible wheel.
- Compare the layout. Look at the screen opening, rotary controls and outline in the product images. A similar colour scheme is not evidence of the same fit.
If you own a special edition or another variant, check its fit separately. Do not assume that a shared family name means identical sticker cut-outs.

Can’t find the livery you want for your Formula V3?
Take a look at our Fanatec Formula V2/V2.5 designs. We can adapt your chosen design to the Formula V3 on request. Simply send us the design link through the Contact page or email info@lovelystickers.com, and mention that you need it for the Formula V3. Contact us before ordering so we can prepare the correct V3 layout; an existing V2/V2.5 kit will not fit the V3 as supplied.
Start with the look you want across the whole cockpit. You could match the main colour to your seat, choose a livery inspired by the discipline you race most, or make the wheel the contrasting focal point of the setup. Check the actual product pictures before deciding.
These are decorative sticker kits, not steering wheels or electronic upgrades. The V3 listings specify laminated polymer-based vinyl and installation around the buttons and features without taking the wheel apart. They are regular adhesive stickers, not reusable peel-on, peel-off skins. See the individual listing for the current design and ordering details.
What to check before applying a V3 skin
Read your kit’s instructions before removing the backing. Confirm the fit, prepare a clean and dry surface, and identify the cut-outs around the screen and controls. Position the pieces carefully and apply them smoothly, keeping every control and opening clear.
Our Fanatec wheel skin tutorial provides a general visual reference. It shows other Fanatec models, so use your V3 kit’s own shape and instructions for alignment. Do not copy another wheel’s exact installation sequence when the layout differs.
Frequently asked questions
Will a Formula V2.5 sticker kit fit the Formula V3?
Choose a kit explicitly listed for the V3. Its dimensions, display and control layout differ from the V2.5, so the model names are not interchangeable when ordering a skin.
Do I need to dismantle the Formula V3 to fit a Lovely Stickers kit?
The V3 product listings state that dismantling is not required: the stickers fit around the wheel’s buttons and features. Follow the instructions for the kit you order.
Can I remove and reuse the stickers?
The V3 kits use regular adhesive vinyl and are not intended for repeated removal and reapplication. Choose your design and confirm the model before installation.
Can I buy a V3 kit as a gift?
Yes, once you have confirmed that the recipient owns the Formula V3. A photo plus the exact model name is more useful than a general description such as “a Fanatec wheel”. Our sim racing gift guide can help you plan the rest.
